The ancestors of these fish were imported via Manaus in Brazil to Germany. I brought two tankraised pairs from Germany to the US a few years back. Based on the fact that they show the darkest pattern in soft and acidic water they are probably from the Rio Negro region. As you can see they have very large but relatively few eggs. This is a small Ancistrus species growing to no more than 3.5 in.
